FAQ’s
Is sports massage just for sports people?
No. Whilst sports people will undoubtedly benefit from sports massage, the same techniques are used to treat anyone with an injury, postural imbalance, aches or pains.
How long is a session? What will it involve?
Your first session will involve taking a comprehensive history and a postural assessment in addition to your initial treatment. This will take one hour. The length of subsequent visits, if required, will depend on your needs. In some cases sessions may be split between massage and exercises in the gym.
What should I wear?
Loose comfortable clothing and preferably shorts. Towels will be used to cover any areas of the body that are not being worked on.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions will depend on your condition. Often specific exercises will be advised to do at home in your own time to compliment the sessions.
Are there any conditions for which massage is unsuitable?
There are a number of conditions where massage should be avoided or where great care should be taken. These include certain heart conditions, infections, open wounds, pregnancy, varicose veins, diabetes, high blood pressure and others. If you are unsure about any condition, please discuss this at the time of booking. We will always refer any conditions or injuries that are beyond the level of our professional competence to an appropriately qualified health professional (GP, physiotherapist etc.)
